Lundin Gold, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary Aurelian Ecuador S.A., owns the Fruta del Norte Mine (FDN), located in southeastern Ecuador in the Zamora Chinchipe Province.
Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.
THE ROLE
The coordinator is responsible to manage the underground production during his/her shifts. Leads the crews responsible for this task in a manner that fosters individual accountability within clearly established parameters to ensure maximum productivity while adhering to provincial safety and environmental legislation, regulations, Company policy and procedure, and good management practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage mine production in a safely and efficiently manner.
- Manage the safety focus and accountability of the operators and all the personnel in the crew, promoting and coaching for zero harm policy.
- Manage costs and minimize waste to meet the mine operating budget.
- Work with others in mine operations, and interact with other areas as technical services, maintenance, safety, environment, etc. to achieve the plan.
- Have control and supervision of the production equipment as drills, trucks, and haulage gear.
- Achieve the goals of production about the tonnes haulage to surface and meters drilled assigned to her/his shift.
- Participate in managing underground emergencies to support efficient resolution of the situation.
- Manage labor relations issues promptly and fairly, in conjunction with the human resources.
- Lead and develop subordinates so that they add value to the company, ensuring mining crews are trained.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Third level degree in Mining Engineering, or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining, preferably in underground mines, with increasing levels of responsibility.
Knowledge in:
- Broad knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Management of underground teams of more than 15 people.
- Broad knowledge and experience in underground development.
