Lundin Gold, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary Aurelian Ecuador S.A., owns the Fruta del Norte Mine (FDN), located in southeastern Ecuador in the Zamora Chinchipe Province.

Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.

THE ROLE

Manage the CAPEX project from its conception to its execution and commissioning, including the control and monitoring of the project assigned as Leader.

Supervise and control construction activities, effectively managing personnel, procedures, financial and logistical resources, among others, in order to achieve efficiency and higher productivity, complying with company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the interdisciplinary project during the construction phase.
  • Participate in comprehensive project planning and management involving project stakeholders.
  • Manage contracts, scope, schedule and costs of construction projects.
  • Supervise construction works.
  • Maintain monthly CAPEX cost projections for the assigned project.
  • In conjunction with cost control area, review monthly incurred costs, budget expenditure projections assigned to projects.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure that the execution of the project under his/her responsibility is developed in compliance with the scope, schedule and quality within the approved budget.
  • Verify the constructability of the project during the engineering phase and before the start of construction, identifying risks and opportunities in its development, looking for ways of optimization.
  • Control the execution of activities and resources in a rational way in each of the projects under his responsibility.
  • Must identify the necessary KPI’s in the management of the assigned project.
  • Analyze and together with the Project Management update modifications, additional works and any necessary changes to ensure the best development of the project, being responsible for them, in coordination and authorization of the Project Manager.
  • Perform planned and unplanned inspections in the different work fronts.
  • Verify and process the Payment Schedules, evaluating work progress, deadlines and costs in direct coordination with the Project Control area.
  • Responsible for the coordination to prepare the Project closing dossier, ensuring that they are received and approved by the final Client of the Project.
  • Issue the final completion document, which should include a general summary of the work performed, lessons learned and recommendations.
  • Systematically supervise the processes and activities assigned to the work or operation, comply with the policies, procedures, techniques and quality standards and inform the Surface Operations area about the deficiencies identified.
  • Promptly report to his superior the identification of institutional, economic, commercial, labor, environmental and occupational safety risks.
  • Review the general work plan, specific safety plans authorizing the start of work, achieving a safe and accident-free work environment in the implementation of projects.
  • Conduct planned work observations and safety meetings in the field.
  • Ensure that the personnel under his charge complies with the environmental care policy, getting involved with the Company’s plans.
  • Manage the change management process during the development of the project.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree with specialization in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Project Management or equivalent.
  • Advanced intermediate Excel skills
  • 8 or more years of experience in construction projects in the mining industry.
  • 4 years of experience in a Project Supervisor role.
  • Experience in monitoring and controlling costs and/or various CAPEX projects simultaneously with different physical work fronts and/or requiring support and quick responses for different clients/stakeholders within operations.
  • Experience in CAPEX estimating and review of economic estimates/proposals from contractors/suppliers.
  • Experience in project planning and control in environments that require managing schedules and monitoring the progress of several projects simultaneously and/or requiring support and quick responses for different clients/stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing, updating and reporting schedules and progress status for portfolio/operations stage programs.
  • Strong knowledge of cost estimating principles and methodologies.
