Lundin Gold, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary Aurelian Ecuador S.A., owns the Fruta del Norte Mine (FDN), located in southeastern Ecuador in the Zamora Chinchipe Province.

Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.

THE ROLE

Responsible on ensuring that mining sites and exploration projects follow industry best practices and procedures, with particular emphasis on estimating of mineral resources and reserves, as well as supporting the geology of the mine and the reconciliation between the mine and the mill. The Mineral Resources Supervisor will be the qualified person for the company’s assets, as described in the NI 43-101 disclosure standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be part of a dynamic team working with the Exploration and Mine Technical Services team to support existing operations, advanced projects, and exploration programs.
  • Oversee long and short-term mineral resource estimation models used for mine planning and reserve estimation, including the generation of 3D geological models.
  • Support Mining Geology and Exploration teams to ensure an adequate level of understanding of geology at the deposit scale, ensuring optimal geological modeling practices.
  • Ensure that all relevant data generated is validated, including QA/QC, and meets the requirements for geology and resource modeling work and subsequent mineral resource assessment, mineral reserve development and other technical disciplines.
  • Critically evaluate the accuracy and quality of project data objectively for exploration potential.
  • Build and develop the capabilities of the geology team, training and mentoring in the best practices and exploration methodologies in the sector.
  • Support mine-mill reconciliation practices to improve grade predictability and reduce feed grade variability.
  • Be the qualified person in existing operations and/or development projects and/or exploration properties and sign NI 43-101 technical reports.
  • Strictly respect the confidentiality, privacy, and intellectual property policies of Lundin Gold employees.
  • Continuously seek technological advances to better execute exploration, development, and mining activities

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Geology.
  • geoscientist with active membership in a professional association recognized by the Canadian Association (CIM). You must be registered or eligible to register to meet the qualified person requirements under National Instrument Standard 43-101 (NI 43-101).
  • More than 8 years of experience, of which at least 5 of significant experience in exploration (underground and/or open pit).
  • More than 3 years of experience in supervisory or management roles.
  • Experience in gold mineralization environments. Desirable epithermal gold mineralization.
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling software such as Leapfrog Geo.
  • Advanced knowledge of geostatistical and mineral resource estimation software such as Datamine Studio RM or Vulcan.
  • Experience in writing, compiling, and presenting NI 43-101 reports.
  • Demonstrated history of safe work habits.
