Lundin Gold, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary Aurelian Ecuador S.A., owns the Fruta del Norte Mine (FDN), located in southeastern Ecuador in the Zamora Chinchipe Province.

Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.


Supervises and coordinates workers who maintain and repair all site facilities. May be responsible for assessing problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed.


  • Supervise and direct all maintenance operators, helpers and operators as well as the waste management center.
  • Supervise, control and plan all tasks of the maintenance department and the waste management center and report their activities to the Camp Manager or his delegate.
  • Carry out all maintenance operations necessary for equipment, facilities, etc. to function optimally.
  • Plan and organize maintenance needs of field workers.
  • Lead and plan safety meetings and inspections.
  • Manage the department, allocate resources, train and supervise a team of skilled and unskilled workers.
  • Schedule equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance inspections and services.
  • Order parts and materials for general maintenance and projects.
  • Prepare equipment and material lists for major jobs and ensures that equipment and materials are available when needed.
  • Investigates all accidents, incidents and near misses involving their equipment, and takes corrective action for immediate, long term and permanent repair.
  • Recommends personnel actions, such as new employee onboarding, promotions and terminations. Verifies and approves in a timely manner the time sheets of his direct subordinates.
  • Requisitions materials and supplies for areas in charge.
  • Evaluate employee progress and provide individual instructions, if necessary.
  • In collaboration with the Health and Safety Department, ensure that necessary steps are taken to educate employees on hazards and provide appropriate training to reduce or eliminate occupational hazards, including occupational diseases, and protect service employees.
  • Maintain tools and materials necessary for the performance of work.
  • Develop, administer and communicate department and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Ecuadorian Government requirements, environmental, shareholder health and safety legislation and company regulations and submit corresponding reports.

  • Third level degree in: Mechanical, electrical or electronic engineer, architect or related.
  • Minimum 7 years in a skilled technical trade.
  • Demonstrate high leadership potential to lead our employees to achieve production goals in a safe manner.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, materials and tools used in the industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards and regulations.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent language skills both written and oral.
  • Intermediate knowledge of English would be an asset.
