Lundin Gold, through its Ecuadorian subsidiary Aurelian Ecuador S.A., owns the Fruta del Norte Mine (FDN), located in southeastern Ecuador in the Zamora Chinchipe Province.
Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.
THE ROLE
The Senior Emergency and Rescue Coordinators are in charge of managing and leading the H&S Mine-Surface Emergency Brigade made up of Firefighter-Rescue and Volunteer Brigaders belonging to the different areas of FDN.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan the training of the members of the Mine-Surface Emergency Brigade
- Maintain the equipment using a monthly program and preventive operational checks, every time they are required to be used.
- Take responsibility of Response Group leader and brigade members in a real situation or drills.
- Manage the activities and programs of inspections of areas and equipment, Emergency Planning (drills) in all areas / facilities of FDN.
- Maintain the FDN Emergency Plan and ICS Contingency Plan updated with all possible scenarios.
- Inform in a timely manner to the Emergency Superintendence of the processes the possible emergency scenarios identified and improvement opportunities detected to develop corrective actions.
- Maintain contact with suppliers to explain procedures on technical issues related to equipment and/or non-conformities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety / Risk and Disaster Management / Major Accidents
- Certified training as a member and instructor of: Rescue Teams, HAZMAT Specialist, Firefighter, First Aid, Certification in industrial safety and occupational health recognized nationally or internationally.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in mining, tunneling, oil and gas or related industries as Emergency and Rescue Brigade Leader or Chief in mining
- Experience in training related to Industrial Safety and Emergency and Rescue in open pit and subway mining
- Knowledge of national and/or international mining safety and health regulations
