Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the General Foreman, Mine Maintenance Training, the Mine Electrical Trainer is responsible for training and developing the skills of electrical maintenance technicians and is required to perform to the highest standards. He will provide specific specialized training based on initial entry level skills, before moving on to advanced electrical skills. You will be the expert in combining technical based classroom training with on-the-job training. He will also be a consultant for mining and maintenance operations.
In addition, he/she will supervise the activities of technicians and coordinators, providing guidance as required. Assisting in the management of daily work will be essential and must have good decision making skills. There will be a requirement to work, over an extended period, within the mine supervising and training national staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for training, providing support, mentoring and building mine electrical maintenance staff.
  • Assess training needs for maintenance team electricians and create training programs.
  • Prepare training materials for electricians, conduct classroom training and provide mentoring in the field.
  • Detect and resolve problems/failures in different equipment and systems and provide all involved in the operation that require it with Mentoring in their area of influence.
  • Develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, reduce operating costs and achieve higher availability while optimizing the use of manpower and materials.
  • Create work orders (complete with a description of how the work is to be performed in addition to generating a parts pick list) and close out work orders (noting all aspects of the completed work)
  • Supervise and follow up on all work in order to ensure that Canadian and Ecuadorian Standards are met.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Third level degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with SAP will be considered an advantage
  • 5 – 7 years experience in the subway mine industry.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience as an electrical trainer, or foreman, be familiar with supervision, training, course design and development and evaluation.
  • Experience in subway mine shelters.
  • Experience in subway mine communication system (LEAKY FEEDER).
  • Experience in maintenance of 600 Volt section of drilling rigs in subway mine, if the experience is in EPIROC equipment (Desirable).
  • Experience in Caterpillar Machinery (Desirable).
  • Intermediate English language skills (Excludable).
