Fruta del Norte (FDN) is one of the largest and highest grade gold deposits in the world currently in production. The Company has an experienced mine operations team dedicated to advancing FDN responsibly. In the fourth quarter of 2019, Lundin Gold realized first gold production as well as the first export of gold concentrate and doré. In the first quarter of 2020 FDN achieved commercial production. Lundin Gold operates transparently in accordance with international best practices and according to its three core principles: Working Safely, Environmental Stewardship and Respect.

THE ROLE

Support the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Management Plans of the different initial and advanced exploration mining projects approved by the Ministry of the Environment. Generate information, verification means and compliance reports, in accordance with the provisions of environmental regulations, environmental licenses, permits granted, environmental management system, corporate standards and other commitments acquired by the Company. Conduct field inspections and monitoring of work areas to determine improvement initiatives in established environmental processes. Maintain updated environmental databases, material inventories and calibrated environmental equipment to ensure reliable data collection and comply with the provisions of Environmental Impact Studies, Environmental Management Plans, national regulations and other commitments assumed by the Company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and determine improvement actions in the operational areas of exploration management.
  • Generate verification means and updated databases in compliance with the provisions of the Environmental Management Plans (PMAs), corporate standards and environmental legislation applicable to the different operational areas of Exploration and contractors.
  • Field monitoring of archaeological, biotic, environmental release, waste management, control of potential leaks and spills, and verification of the implementation of preventive measures.
  • Periodically update the inventory of equipment and materials located in the operational fronts of exploration management.
  • Provide support for specific environmental improvement actions and internal and external environmental audits.
  • Monitoring compliance with corrective or preventive actions in accordance with the action plan and lessons learned from environmental events.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Third level training in Environmental Engineering or similar with training in Environmental Management.
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in environmental licensing processes for projects, preferably in the mining sector.
  • Environmental regularization processes.
  • Mining and environmental legislation.
  • Evaluation and management of environmental impacts in mining projects.
  • Preparation of environmental studies.
  • Type B driving license.
